Newark-Robert P. Bob Corrie, Sr., age 77, passed peacefully Friday, January 25, 2019, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Wilmington, DE in 1941 and was the son of the late Elmer and Virginia Corrie. Bob graduated from Wilmington HS in 1960. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps. After his Honorable Discharge, Bob started his career in Banking with Farmers Bank and retired as the head of the Precious Metals Department of Mellon Bank. He was a member of their, Quarter Century Club.
Bob relocated to Myrtle Beach, SC for 17 years and returned to Delaware 14 years ago. He worked part-time in security at Ashland Inc. and retired in 2018.
He was an avid NASCAR fan, as well as, an Eagles Fan. Bob loved to travel with his wife Eilene and toured to many states in the USA, 30 of those states were in their RV. They also cruised the Panama Canal, Alaska and the Caribbean.
Bob is survived by his wife of 49 years, Eilene M. Corrie (Kuhar); a son, Robert P. Corrie, Jr.; 2 sisters, Betty King (Glenn) and Jeanne Burge (Wayne); a sister-in-law, Anna Kuhar and a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 31, at 6:30pm, at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy, where friends may call after 5:30pm. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Bobs name to the American Heart Association, 200 Continental Dr., Suite 101, Newark, DE 19713.
