Nilan, III, James

Jim, age 62, of Lewes, DE passed away peacefully, after a short illness, on February 2, 2019 in the presence of his loving family. Jim received the nickname of Gameball while in college.

Jim was born in Wilmington, DE on July 28, 1956. He graduated from Salesianum School in Wilmington, DE and Springfield College in Massachusetts. He previously worked at Mountaire Farms in Millsboro, DE.

Jim was an avid sports enthusiast and loved the Philadelphia Eagles. He was a season ticket holder for the Eagles for many years. Jim always enjoyed watching his son play sports. He loved to coach football for his son and going camping while his son was in boy scouts. Jim also loved to cook and took great pride in his summer garden.

Jim was predeceased in death by his wife, Bambi; his father, James (aka Reds); and brother, Frank. He is survived by his son Colin (Whitney); mother Evelyn; nephew David; uncles Thomas of Newark and David of Kennett Square and aunts Patricia Konitzer of Kennett Square and Nancy Mackie (Al) of Wilmington. Jim also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held at St. Helenas Church, 602 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE on Friday, February 8 from 10 to 11 am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am. Entombment of cremains will follow mass at Silverbrook Cemetery, 3300 Lancaster Pike, Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jim, may be sent to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
