Keller, Gerald "Jerry"

Gerald (Jerry) Louis Keller, age 84, of Wilmington, DE passed away suddenly on Monday, April 22, 2024. Jerry was born August 26, 1939 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Joseph Keller and Adela Montoya Bagdo. He served in the U.S. Army as a sharpshooter. He was an auto wholesaler for many years as owner of D.P. Keller Company.

Jerry was a private pilot, skilled sailor and avid softball player for over 50 years with multiple appearances representing the senior Olympics. He held his captain’s license allowing for many voyages of vessels and yachts to various warm locations. His love for the ocean and clear blue waters drew him to create his own charter business with his late wife, Donna, on their sailboat, Adela. He provided a place of joy and beauty for many charter guests in the Virgin Islands with snorkeling, hiking, and countless stories for their vacation memories.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Millicent; his daughters, Sherry VanHoy of Lewes, DE and Melanie Guyer of Townsend, DE; five grandchildren, Joshua Pollard (Gabby), Jenna VanHoy, Paige VanHoy, Erik Guyer, and Lindsey Guyer; two great-grandchildren, Mikayla and Owen Pollard; his brother, Francis Keller (Louise) of Stanton, DE; brothers-in-law, David Braitsch (Peggy) of Rochester, NY, and Michael Boettcher (Gail) of Media, PA; sisters-in-law, Millie Boettcher of Media, PA, and Fariba Bagheri of Santa Monica, CA; many nieces, nephews, and his dear cousin Antonio Montoya (Pity) of Laredo, TX. He is preceded in death by his second wife, Donna, and his first wife, Marsha; his daughters, Bonnie Keller Raine and Jenny Lynn Keller; brothers, Albert Keller and Carlton Baylis; sister, Carol Woodward; and his mother-in-law, Lillian Boettcher.

Jerry was a loving husband, an amazing father, a proud grandfather, a loyal brother, an exceptional storyteller, and a great friend to many. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, pursuing adventures, and being a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan.
