He graduated from Mt. Pleasant H.S. (1971) and obtained his Instructor Training Certificate from Purdue Univ. (1981).

John was a proud Union man of 36 years with the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 74. He was President of the Brandywine School District Board of Education, Dir. of Special Affairs of the Delaware School Board Assoc., former Treasurer of both the Brandywine Education Foundation and Delaware’s 7th District. He was also a member of the Granite-Corinthian Lodge No. 34 and a founding member of 91.7 FM WMPH.

John loved many things-classic cars, classic rock, beach time in Lewes, crab imperial, and a good Manhattan (with an extra cherry!). But most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends.

John is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joyce; daughter, Nicole; son, John III (Katie); grandsons, Johnny IV & Matthew; brothers, Steve and Nick (Nancy); mother in law, Mabel Emory; sister in law, Sandy Margerison; nieces, Anna Skrobot and Jennifer Speakman; nephews, Christopher Skrobot, Rich and Shawn Margerison; and five great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to Dr. David Biggs, Dr. Arthur Staddon, and Dr. Chandana Kakani and the nurses and staff of Helen Graham Cancer Center, Penn Hematology and Oncology at Radnor for their outstanding care, friendship and support during his long illness. Additionally, a special thank you to Seasons Hospice and Home Instead Senior Care for their care of John in his final days.
