Barbara Lynn Wanner, age 73, of Linwood, PA died peacefully on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at her sister Sheryn’s home surrounded by her family.

Barbara attended Holy Saviour, Chichester High, and Chestnut Hill College for her undergrad and earned her Masters from the University of Dayton. Barbara lived as a consecrated woman religious for 23 years as a sister of Saint Joseph teaching in many dioceses. She continued her ministry with SSJ spirit and charism as a catholic school teacher and principal for 25 years until her retirement from Saint Mary Magdalen, Wilmington, DE in 2014. After her retirement, as a woman of great faith, she served as a Eucharistic Minister and in various other Pastoral ministries.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents, George and Dorothy Wanner, and siblings Dorothy Giampietro and John Wanner. She is survived by her siblings, Sheryn Simpers (Wayne), George Wanner, Gary Wanner (Susan), Steven Wanner (Donna), Andrea D’Angelis (George), Janet Tridente (Ron), Richard Wanner (Jeanne), and Joan Denise Brooks (Edward). Barbara had a significant role in the lives of many, especially, Ann Hammond, David Linaweaver, and Alexis Crowley, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 28 from 6-8 pm at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 7 Sharpley Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803. Another viewing will be offered the following day, Wednesday, November 29 at the church from 9:15-10:45 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am followed by interment in Lawncroft Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Barbara’s name to Sisters of Saint Joseph, Mt. Saint Joseph Convent, 9701 Germantown Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19118, Saint Mary Magdalen School, 9 Sharpley Road, Wilmington, De 19803, or the charity of your choice.
