Rosie Castelli, Funeral Celebrant - EMAIL
Rosie smiles when asked about her life journey to becoming a funeral celebrant. Born and raised in Hoboken, New Jersey, Rosie received her BA from Caldwell College, MA degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and Ed.D. from Widener University's School of Human Service Professions.
After College, she spent six years as a Dominican Nun where she studied theology and world religions. It provided her with a solid background in spirituality, the value of ritual in solemnizing events, and the necessity of using meaningful words and symbols to make ceremonies sacred and significant.
After teaching in College for many years, she became the Vice President for Academic Affairs/Dean of the College at SUNY Adirondack in Upstate New York. In 2002 she left higher education to follow her desire to become a Certified Funeral Celebrant and Grief Counselor. As a grief counselor she soon discovered that many families were dissatisfied with the funeral of their loved one because it didn't capture the essence and true meaning of their loved one. She decided to become a certified funeral celebrant and help families celebrant the life and unique personality of their loved one by helping them fashion truly personal and individual ceremonies.
Rosie has performed over 300 humanist and spiritual funerals of all kinds. She is certified in Celebrancy by the internationally recognized In-Sight Institute and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Grief Counseling, where she also teaches Distance Learning Courses in Grief Education. Rosie is also a Certified Funeral Services Associate.
Rosie believes sincerely that ceremonies to mark life transitions should be personal, and reflective of your loved one's personality. Therefore, every funeral celebration of life that she performs is a "one of a kind" celebration designed to celebration the meaning, impact and significance of your loved one's life. Whether you are religious, spiritual or humanist, the ceremony is your ceremony.
Warm, affable, humorous, creative and insightful, Rosie visits or personally talks with the family and friends of the deceased, and fashions her ceremony after determining the family's wants and needs.
Rosie has one son, loving daughter-in-law and three grandchildren, whom she adores, and lives in Wilmington, Delaware.
